Case Study 3: Benefit of Good Leadership

Fad was an accountant clerk at local accounting firm. One day, the management decided to put Nora an intern student, in Fad supervision. Nora was a student undertaking an ACCA certification, thus compared to Fad, it was like heaven and earth. Fad thought he will not have to teach anything to Linda considering this fact.

However, he was wrong. When preparing for an accounting report, most of Nora's format are wrong, her report is hard to digest and she break down easily when the task is piling up, which is normal in the accounting firm. Fad then step up, teaching Nora account essentials and giving her emotional support when she needs.

Fad had not heard from Nora after she completed her intern. Out of blue, after 3 years since Nora's intern, Fad suddenly got promoted to account executive. Fad was shocked. Considering his qualification, he did not deserve such position. Fad later learn that it was Nora, who is now an ACCA qualified, wrote a recommendation letter to the management that got him promoted.

Fad called Nora and thanked her. He also asked why she troubled herself writing that recommendation later. Nora explained that before her intern, she thought excel in CGPA equal excel in work. It prove wrong when she went for intern. However, Fad leadership save her and opened her eyes.

Instead of mocking and scolding Nora for her poor work, he helped her, showing to her that a good leader is not necessary have highest qualification, but rather willing to lead when needed. In Nora's case, Fad become a leader when he willingly teach Nora essentials and giving her emotional support when she needed. Thus, Fad having such qualities is why Nora wrote the recommendation letter.
